October 17, 2019 – Concerns and questions surrounding the license transfer process for the decommissioning of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant in Plymouth, Massachusetts has prompted the Assembly of Delegates to ask for a meeting with a representative from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Holtec Decommissioning International.
The Assembly has concerns regarding the aggressive time frame quoted to transfer fuel from the Pilgrim Plant and fears it may jeopardize the safety of Cape Cod residents and the environment. The Assembly joins a long line of other government officials and citizens who are deeply disturbed by the decommissioning process and looks forward to an open dialogue with each entity regarding the potential impact to Cape Cod residents.
