The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has determined that a new machine gun range proposed for Joint Base Cape Cod could pose a significant public health risk to local residents. With no alternative sources of drinking water available to the region’s sole aquifer, officials say the proposed range should be reconsidered. Barnstable County Commissioner Mark Forest supports the EPA’s findings, citing numerous health concerns that could arise from the potential hazards of this range.
