Barnstable 3rd Graders Embrace Green Learning with AmeriCorps Cape Cod

3rd graders at Barnstable Community Innovation School recently had an exciting day learning about taking care of our environment. With the guidance of AmeriCorps Cape Cod and Extension’s Waste Reduction Educator, Kari Parcell, the students enjoyed eco-friendly activities and learned about being more environmentally responsible.

Students, alongside their teachers, Ms. Callahan, Miss Tiff, Mrs. Herrmann, and Ms. Norwood, explored the concepts of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. This hands-on experience introduced the kids to the idea of being less wasteful and finding new uses for things they might have thrown away.

Beyond the classroom, these young students also had a chance to discover different ways to reduce their impact on the environment through Project-Based Learning (PBL). They learned that they have the power to make a positive difference and help protect our planet.

This collaborative effort between the school, AmeriCorps Cape Cod, and Extension’s Waste Reduction Educator emphasizes the importance of community involvement in teaching kids about taking care of the Earth.
