Windy Weather Approaches ahead of Thanksgiving Holiday, Snow Forecasted for Western Massachusetts

The National Weather Service (NWS) and MEMA meteorologist are forecasting a storm system bringing a wintry mix and strong wind gusts to portions of the Commonwealth beginning late this evening into Wednesday afternoon. 

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued from 7PM tonight to 7AM Wednesday for portions of Berkshire, Franklin, and Hampshire counties as 2- 4 inches of snow is expected. Across portions of Central MA, 1-2 inches are expected. Snow will develop late this evening and gradually transition to rain during the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday. Rain is expected throughout the remainder of the Commonwealth, with accumulations of 1 to 1.25 inches.

Wind Advisories have gone into effect from 5AM to 4PM for Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Martha’s Vineyard. This system is expected to produce wind gusts of up to 50 MPH. The strongest gusts will develop during the early morning hours of Wednesday before tapering down throughout the afternoon and evening hours. 

Dry and seasonable weather is expected for the remainder of the week.
