Barnstable County’s Guide to Getting Beach Parking Stickers on Cape Cod: A Breakdown for 15 Towns and The Cape Cod National Seashore 2024

Disclaimer: The information provided about Cape Cod beaches is based on research conducted online. For the most accurate and up-to-date information, please contact the relevant town or the Cape Cod National Seashore directly, depending on which beach you plan to visit. Links are provided in this article.

Cape Cod is the quintessential summer destination with miles of sandy beaches, beautiful scenery, and a range of outdoor activities to enjoy. However, gaining parking access to the beaches during the summer season (roughly Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day Weekend) requires getting a resident/taxpayer beach sticker or a visitor’s pass.

The Cape Cod National Seashore versus Town Beaches

The Cape Cod National Seashore and town beaches on Cape Cod operate separately in terms of management and fee structures. The Cape Cod National Seashore is managed by the National Park Service and has standardized fees and regulations set by the federal government.

In contrast, town beaches are managed by individual town governments, each with its own fee schedule and regulations tailored to local residents and visitors. Payment for access to National Seashore beaches is typically made at entrance stations, while town beach fees are paid at town offices, visitor centers, or beach entrances, with some towns offering online purchasing options.

For Town Beaches, Every Town is Different

Each of our 15 towns has a slightly different system. Obtaining a beach sticker on Cape Cod may require you to bring several documents to ensure your eligibility. Whether you are a resident or non-resident, following the correct process in each town is crucial to access your desired beach.

Rules, Rules, Know the Rules

Also, remember that the rules and fees are subject to change, so it is essential to confirm the current details with the respective town’s government offices or the Cape Cod National Seashore website. Links to town websites and Cape Cod National Seashore are below.

Things to remember:

  • Permits are checked during the day only, so you may be able to enjoy some time in the early morning hours and in the early evening hours.
  • Dogs are often NOT allowed on beaches in the high season, May 1 to September 15, but sometimes allowed before 9 am and after 6 pm. Make sure you check the rules.
