Upcoming Community Listening Sessions to Hear Ideas on How to Make the Commonwealth More Age- and Dementia-Friendly

In 2019, Massachusetts unveiled a plan to amplify, align, and coordinate local, regional, and statewide efforts to create a welcoming and more livable Commonwealth for residents of all ages. The Age-Friendly Massachusetts Action Plan is an articulation of the state’s vision and aspirations for what it looks like to grow older as a Commonwealth.

This year, Massachusetts is working to refresh the plan to guide the state’s age- and dementia-friendly actions for the next 5-10 years. We want to hear from you.

In collaboration with Barnstable County, Regional Government of Cape Cod, Barnstable MA Council on Aging, and Massachusetts Councils on Aging, the Executive Office of Elder Affairs will co-host listening sessions to hear your ideas on how to make the Commonwealth more age- and dementia-friendly. All
members of the public are welcome to attend.

Discussion points include:

  • What is working well to support people aging in your community?
  • What do you like about growing older in your community? Why?
  • What are the barriers to aging well that would make you move to another community?
  • Looking forward to the next 5 – 10 years, what are the top three ways we can best support people to age well?
  • What are big actions or policies that will better support people as we grow older in our communities?
