“County Corner” at Barnstable’s Annual Community Safety Day for Residents Ages 55+ is a Success!

On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, the Town of Barnstable and the Barnstable Adult Community Center hosted the annual 55+ Community Safety Day, dedicated to bringing safety, educational, and wellness resources to our older adults.
The day was a success! Participants enjoyed a fun-filled event packed with valuable information from organizations around the Cape. Barnstable County staff represented various County programs and services in the County Corner, providing information on:
- Emergency Preparedness (Chip Reilly, Emergency Preparedness Director, Dept. of Health & Environment)
- Public Health Nursing (Wendy Judd, Public Health Nurse, Dept. of Health & Environment)
- SHINE (Serving the Health Insurance Needs of Everyone) (Kristina Whiton O’Brien, SHINE Program Coordinator, Dept. of Human Services)
- Substance Use Resources (Mandy Speakman, Deputy Director, Dept. of Human Services)
- Nutrition and Food Access (Andrea Marczely, Kim Concra, and Sue Bourque from the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension)
- Flood Preparedness (Shelly McComb and Brian McCormack from the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension)
