Dredging Project Update 2: Cotuit Approach, Entrance, and Embayment Channel

Dredging continued and the progress is slow as we are removing a large section of the spit that has extended into the channel (exposed at all tides). This is the area with the most volume which is estimated to be 13,000 CY (Cubic Yards).

We’ve experienced several minor delays due to mechanical issues over the past two weeks ranging from high operating temps on the booster engine to a failed hydraulic hose on the dredge to a break in the pipe. Repairs were made quickly with minimal down time.

Once this section is completed, the dredge will be moved to go back to the north that was blocked by a vessel on a mooring (see below).

The estimated volume of sand dredged to date is approximately 10,000 CY.
