Green Pond Dredging Project: Mobilization Update

The Barnstable County Dredge Team is currently mobilizing for the Green Pond dredging project in East Falmouth. Green Pond is a coastal saltwater estuary that connects to Vineyard Sound and serves as an important site for boating, fishing, and environmental restoration.

Below are highlights from the mobilization process, with video clips capturing key moments in the field:

Departure from Stage Harbor – March 14

The Cod Fish II and Sand Shifter departed from Stage Harbor, marking the first step in transporting equipment to the Green Pond site.


Towing Pipe from Bass River – March 25

Crews successfully towed approximately 1,300 feet of dredge pipe from Bass River to Green Pond, laying the groundwork for the dredging operation.


Pipe Landed and Dredging Began – March 26

The dredge pipe was pulled ashore, and active dredging operations commenced at Green Pond.
