The Dredge Report | Week of March 7, 2021
Sand Shifter – Stage Harbor, Chatham
Dredging continued from Sunday through Wednesday morning when at low tide a break was found in the pipe. The picture below shows the break and the dredged material escaping from the break. Fortunately the break was found and repaired quickly and dredging continued within a couple of hours. Unfortunately, strong winds were forecasted again and dredge ops stopped through the weekend.
A break in a section of the pipe where two sections were joined together.
During the windy and cold weekend weather, the crew took the opportunity to repair damaged sections of pipe (sections that were not in use) in the Hardings Beach parking lot.
A ‘fusion machine’ was rented by the County Dredge and was used to repair various sections of damaged pipe.
