- Water Quality Management Intern– Septic Utility Program – Summer 2025
Location: Barnstable County, MA
Duration: 12-15 Weeks
Hours: 15-20 hours per week
Compensation: Paid Internship $19 per hour
About Opportunity
Barnstable County’s Septic Utility Program (SUP) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented intern to assist in maintaining the County’s Innovative/Alternative (IA) Septic System Database. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in environmental data management, compliance monitoring, and municipal coordination while contributing to water quality initiatives on Cape Cod.
Key Responsibilities
Enter new IA septic system permits into the database.
Monitor the database for compliance issues and flag necessary actions.
Communicate effectively with clients, municipalities, and stakeholders regarding system compliance and data updates.
Assist with correspondence related to permit tracking, inspections, and maintenance requirements.
Support general database management and organizational efforts.
Opportunities to pursue projects in water and wastewater related to the intern’s own interests, and to work on existing projects at the SUP.
